12v Drum Transformer For Tension Wire Tracks – 3 Outputs

Description

This drum transformer is designed for tension wire systems and is available in three outputs 50va, 105 and 210va. all sizes are offered in chrome, white or black housing.

To find the right size transformer for your needs, combine the wattage of the lamps you wish to ensure and ensure the wattage of the transformer matches, or is higher than your total, i.e. 6 x 35w lamps which equates to 210 would require need a 210va transformer.

50va (50w) is 111mm diameter and 110mm deep
No minimum load, perfect for LED lamps

105va (105w) is 110mm diameter and 90mm deep

210va (210w) is 155 mm in diameter and 115mm deep

TIPS AND ADVICE

On some lighting circuits, a Type C MCB may have to be used to avoid tripping because of the higher in-rush current associated with this type of transformer – these only cost a few pounds.

While toroidal transformers are dimmable they often have an issue with harmonics (a buzzing noise) that may be present, if too disruptive do consider changing the wall dimmer module for a different make.

When installing the cable into the 12v output ensure they there is a good connection. Cables that are not sufficiently secured to create resistive connections which may cause excessive heating. We recommend tinning the cable with solder for a good connection. Periodic checking of the tightness of any connections is recommended.
